Long time no bloggy

It’s been almost a year since I’ve been here, too long ! I’ve had so much going on, two new pups who are so cute but so naughty !

The house has been renovated finally !

It has been a real mission of patience ! And now I’m broke

Im waiting to hear from the Uni for the course I have applied, hopefully that will be all ok but if not there is always mid year. I am trying to get my life organized it’s only taken fifty years !

I’m still quilting now and then but it had been sporadic, I’ve got s couple interesting projects on the go, one is a Judy Neimyer pattern, the other is a hexy done with a ruler that makes it all so easy, photos later 😉

thats it for now hope I get back before another year passes !

 

Happy Holidays and other stuff

My son just celebrated his 22nd birthday he drove his dream car around a track as fast as he could -110km hr lol he doesn’t drive fast ! We had a great day weather was perfect, we lunched overlooking the river city.
It’s good Friday, the weather is bonkers, but sun is out for at least a few minutes! It’s still unseasonably warm and very wet, climate change is here.
Well it’s time to renew my subscription to keep this site alive and I’m not sure I will as I don’t post very much at all anymore, I think it might be time to let it go, it was fun for a while 🙂

Make quilts !!
The circle is from a Jen Kingwell pattern, it’s shaping up to be a funky hat !! Seriously something wrong here ! I will try my own pattern for the rest 🙂

The squares started off in a class demo and I quite liked it so I kept going ! Im getting on with my stuff, life goes on as the saying goes 🙂

Old Sydney Town

I recently made a trip to the beautiful city of Sydney, where I grew up but i haven’t made many trips back there since I moved away many years ago. The harbour is gorgeous, the smell of the fresh blue ocean, the sounds of ferries as they leave the quay, the opera house and bridge all make this one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen.

 

these photos are courtesy of google images as somehow i have lost all my photos which i cannot fathom how, but they are not on my ph anymore 😦  but there was a ship just like the one in the photo above, they are enormous !

I made a decision to eat at a couple of highly rated restaurants, which was fabulous ! One has a spectacular view of the harbour, and the food was excellent, the other one has no view but the food was sublime 🙂 anyhow i intend to go back very soon, and take my kids so we can all have a nice few days there and catch up with my mum as well :0

I also visited a couple of quilt stores, one is quite famous and i did have a photo of the owner with her new book, but its gone also 😦  bloody ipieceofrubbish must have deleted them when it got reset, but kept all the daggy photos, naturally. Another excuse to go back 🙂  Avoir until next time

 

In my spare time …

I drafted this today as I couldn’t find a pattern for it anywhere, and I used my daughters protractor set that hasn’t seen the light of day for years ! I have even surprised myself with the result 🙂 so I hope it works out with fabric 😉
It’s hot hot hot here, the air con is keeping us cool, but I am looking forward to cooler weather and rain, the garden is parched. I saw the head of a large eastern brown snake under a rock today right by the pool, yikes this is baaad, they are deadly. Swimming with brown snakes is not recommended 😦
I will be sewing fabric to my shapes in the safety of the house !

So xmas is over our bellies are full, new years is done and our heads are sore, its 2014 i hope there is more … 

thats my wit for the month !! 

The city is in sale mode, all the stores have some great bargains, i tried on some designer clothes which i didn’t  love on me, they look so good on the mannequin, damn it, Im getting old, my skin looks wrinkly in the things i used to love to wear 😦  so i left them behind and then found a t shirt that was cool and  only $10, bargain, that was good. The day ended with dinner with my kids and a friend, 

Someone i know told me that after a week of not doing any physical work that they lost 10 % muscle, which im not sure how you could accurately measure, but still i thought i must be a bag of flubber after my lack of exercise for the last, ahem, two or maybe three years… 

I’m going to spend some time with my mum in Sydney so maybe there might be some more shopping opportunities 🙂

Bali bliss

Yesterday I visited a spa just down the road from me, it was fabulous ! The treatments were so relaxing I snoozed off a couple of times

The surrounds are beautiful, I felt like I was in Bali again

It was the perfect pre Xmas calm-me down-I-think-I’m-gonna -explode remedy 🙂
I’m going all out this week, I’m getting my hair done, shorter for summer and the colour to cover the blonder bits 😉

the good, the bad and the snugly !

Its been an eventful few days here, firstly the good, our girl did very well in her end of school results 🙂 She worked so hard for this, so happy for her, and we got her a little car which she is over the moon with, its red and as she says zoom, zoom ! After all that there really isnt any bad, only she hasnt got her licence to drive it on her own as yet, but hopefully very soon 😉

Its been a bit on the warm side here, so too hot for much of the snugly stuff, but i still live in denial and keep quilting ! The patriotic quilt is almost done, after more swearing, but I have learnt to use the backstitch very well now, so less turning and my arms are eternally grateful for this 🙂 I have found a very interesting pattern which will be my new project, quite different from anything i have done before, but i love a challenge so i am diving in ! It will be my thing to do over the xmas – new year break as long as i dont get called in to work 😉
